Orientation of DC-DC converter
« on: January 10, 2018, 11:53:07 AM »
Hi
Can anyone tell which way I orientate the DC-DC converter on the PSB for the motor control unit?
There are three pins on the converter and three holes for it fit into. Which way around should it sit?
On one side of the converter there is the manufacturers name and on the bottom left corner opposite the pin there is a white dot. Does this
dot correspond to the hole on the PCB with the number 1 assigned to it?
Thanks

Hi,

I should probably remove that '1' from the next version of the board. The 1 should not be there. The important label is the VCC and 5V. The Vcc (7-18v) should come from the screw terminals into the pin labelled Vcc, and the other pin should output 5v (the one with the '1' beside it, unfortunately).

Dave.

Hi Dave
Thanks for clearing that up. I can now see the route across the PCB from the screw terminal to the VCC in on the DC-DC and the 5V out to the switch.
Still waiting for a few bits and pieces so I'm practising my soldering before I start work on the boards.
I'm very much a beginner when it comes to electronics so I hope you don't mind if I post more questions.
